Happy Birthday, L.!

Believing hear, what you deserve to hear:
Your birthday as my own to me is dear . . .
But yours gives most; for mine did only lend
Me to the world; yours gave to me a friend.
Martial, Epigrams, Bk. ix, epig. 52.

Thank you, Auntie K. I was a lovely day, made more so by the arrival of your dear mother and your thoughtful gift. And the gift of a library card! Poor B&N and Borders; though they are unaware at the moment, they will look back on 30 August, 2006 as a black letter day!
