Things Aren't What They Used to Be

I've always been a big supporter of the USPS, though I admit it's getting more difficult to remain behind them in the face of yet another postal rate hike. I was a dismayed however, when I popped over there just now to look up a Zip+4 (because I always address for success), and saw this feature on the USPS home page--"Service Updates: Check Service in Your Area."

Whatever happened to "neither rain, nor snow, nor heat..."?

(Actually, if you take a look, the only two service areas with notices are New Orleans (makes sense), and Franklin, VA, where a flood apparently took out a post office. But still, the idea of having to look online to see if your mail might be delayed . . .)
