Misdirection

Any possibility that everyone will be so enchanted by my pretty golden toenails that they'll fail to notice my dirty hair, wrinkled chinos and makeup-free face?

Wishes Come True (sort of)

I always wanted naturally curly hair. Who knew that if I waited long enough, I'd get my wish (after a fashion)?

Trial and Error

Other people went to parties, watched TV, or drank champagne--I spent New Year's Eve on two beauty experiments, going to bed in braids and wearing Kate Beckett eye makeup.

The former left me with an overgrown Afro look, and the latter did NOT leave me looking like a hot TV star or even a runway-ready NYPD detective. It did, however, leave me looking like a 40-something librarian with nice eye makeup, so I'm keeping the look. 

ps: In other beauty news, the fringe is definitely history. I've gone all week without even a barrette to keep the hair out of my eyes.

State of the Monday

• I arrived at work at 10 am today. Not as early as I hoped, but not terribly bad (10:30 is my official start time).
• I'm going on vacation in two days. A real vacation. At the beach.
• My toenails are painted for the first time this summer. Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ
• I brought my Primary bag to work today by mistake. This will necessitate a trip home pretty soon to retrieve the correct bag.
• I'm reading The Snake, the Crocodile and the Dog as part of my ongoing bid to once and for all reread and then finish the rest of the books in the series. It really doesn't get much better than Amelia Peabody. She's a great mood lifter.
• In other nail lacquer news, I can't find my bottle of Caffeine Fix. Hmmph.
• I watched the second episode of Zen on Masterpiece last night. Great! I'm now eager to read one of Michael Dibdin's books. If they're as good as Donna Leon's books, I'll be in heaven.

Day Two - Utah Library Association

On day two, I learned about Federated Searching, Open Access, and Citation Generators. I ate my lunch at Subway, and we were finished at 5 pm, after which I went to Carrabba's with the Millwards and my two cousins.

I followed that up with a stroll through University Mall, where I managed to make purchases at both Eddie Bauer and See's. A gold star to the reader who can name at least three of the four kinds of chocolate I bought at See's (readers in Utah are not eligible).

For those who are interested, Mr. Mac is alive and well, and Food-4-Less is now Ream's.

I Forgot...

that when you're in Utah, land of low humidity, it's possible to have great hair!

Of course, there's plenty of bad hair in Utah too, despite the low humidity.
