Sick Leave

Dear MTSU Library,

I will not be at work tomorrow. Your new professionally-voiced closing announcement literally scared the liver out of me when it aired at 11:30 pm from a speaker directly over my desk at 115 dB.

When I find my liver, I may be back.

You Know It's Bad When...

I've fallen into the disconcerting habit of being unable to leave the public library empty handed.

After wandering aimlessly for a few minutes and inspecting the same new books I inspected on my last visit, I walked out with PHP: The Good Parts. Nonfiction, so it would help even the balance of power on my reading list, but not exactly riveting reading. The only plus is that it's a brand new copy, so it doesn't smell like stale tobacco smoke and it doesn't have scary stains on the inside.

If I find a bag of pretzels in my desk drawer that have a "guaranteed fresh" date of 6 months ago, is it safe to eat them?

How I Spent Saturday Night

Sunday's Primary lesson is on being an example. In order to involve a student who is autistic, I have been illustrating some of the lessons with comic panes (he will usually pay attention if something has word bubbles). This week, I drew and scanned several figures and then assembled everything in Word. Not the most efficient method, but perhaps legible than my 100% freehand attempts.
